The Door Top Alarm (DTA) is an innovative technology that provides hardware integration into the top of timber doors to alert staff of possible ligature attempts. The discreet sensor installed across the door leaf detects the application of weight from ligature attempts or objects jammed between the door and frame.

To avoid false alarms, it has an adjustable time delay of 5 to 30 seconds, triggering only with sustained applied weight. Compatible with most duress and staff attack systems, the DTA sends signals to alert the clinical team via audible alarms, staff indicator panels, pagers, handsets or the main nurse station computer.
